1. Why Crowdfunding?
It is the fourth year since crowdfunding was implemented in South Korea in January 2020.
According to the CrowdNet (Korea Securities Depository), 577 companies had 674 successful crowdfundings, totaling 111.4 billion won by December 20, 2019. The average success rate of funding is 58 percent, and more than half of the ideas have turned into business.
In addition, I have joined crowdfunding club called ‘Wishtree’ since this semester. Wishtree is a university student union crowdfunding club affiliated with a crowdfunding platform called OHMYCOMPANY, where students directly become organizers of crowdfunding and donate profits generated through the activity. It consists of the ‘Story team’ that conveys the purpose and theme of funding, the ‘Reward team’ in charge of market research and pricing for reward, and the ‘Public relations team’ that promotes the fund and determines where it is donated.
