    2. Object : Saccharomyces cerevisiae의 시간대별 mitosis와 meiosis 관찰을 통해서 yeast의 mitosis와 meiosis의 진행과정을 학습한다.

    3. Introduction
    – Saccharomyces cerevisiae
    Budding yeast, Baker’s yeast, Brewer’s yeast 라고도 불린다. 일반적으로 포도의 껍질의 흰색 부분에서 볼 수 있으며, 발효를 돕는 생물이기도 한다. 직경이 5-10µm 이며, budding(출아)을 하는 역할을 한다. Berkeley body를 가지고 있는 유일한 yeast이며, eukaryotic model organism으로 자주 이용되며 인간의 cycle protein이나 signal protein, protein-processing enzyme역시 이를 연구하면서 발견된 protein이다.

    Microscope, mitosis sample slides, meiosis sample slides

    2) Methods
    (1) Microscopes are expensive and delicate instruments. Failure to follow these instructions may result in poor image quality and expensive damage. If you need to move your microscope, pick it up with two hands, holding the arm and the base. Check that your microscope is plugged in and turned on.

    (2) Identify each objective lens by the number printed next to colored line. Most of the lab microscopes have 4X, 10X, 40X, and 100X objectives.
