Objectives: aromatic nitration 의 electrophilic aromatic substitution에서의 우세한 product와, p-Nitroacetanilide의 hydrolysis 반응을 통해 p-Nitroaniline을 합성하는 매커니즘을 이해하고, TLC로 물질의 합성을 확인할 수 있다.
Principles:
Scheme에서 볼 수 있는electrophilic aromatic substitution에서, aromaticity를 잃고 sigma complex를 형성하는 반응은 흡열 반응이고, rate determining step이다. 이 실험에서 Electrophile은 NO2+으로 benzene ring의 pi 결합에 있는 전자2개가 electrophile의 N과 결합하고, 그림1과 같이 양이온 intermediate가 생긴다.
