Objectives: Give a short description of the goals of this experiment.
By heating 3-sulfolene, 1,3-butadiene is synthesized, and 4-cyclohexene-cis-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride is synthesized by Diels-alder reaction between 1,3-butadiene and maleic anhydride. Product crystals are obtained through Hot Gravity filtration and crystallization, the yield is calculated, m.p. is measured, and Rf values are compared through TLC.
