Data analysis
The national GDP has been far ahead of Korea since 10 years ago and so far, Japan has been far ahead of Korea. However, the gap in per capita GDP has gradually narrowed since 2010, with Korea’s per capita GDP reaching about 80 percent of that of Japan since 2016. For 2019, however, the gap widened, with Korea’s per capita GDP hitting 72 percent of Japan’s. Japan’s GDP per capita in 2019 is $43,000, and Korea’s is $31,000.
