Our country is regarded as one of the water-poor countries. So, it is important to manage and use the water that is essential to human life efficiently and continuously. However, in modern society, urbanization has become so severe that there are many artificial facilities on the ground as well as underground spaces. As nature’s things become artificial, the ability to hold water on the ground is declining and unused water resources to flow directly into the river/sea are increasing. Therefore, the concept of sponge city is emerging as one of the ways to use this water well. So we looked for ways to apply Sponge City to our country.
Due to its geographical and climatic characteristics, South Korea has a climate where 70 percent of the rain falls during the July-September period. Rainstorms for the instability of atmospheric pressure in summer and heavy rains caused by typhoons are the main reasons.
